Lazarus Havelock has gone away for a long weekend, perhaps?
Funny how it feels better when you stop beating your head against a brick wall, isn't it?

abcnews.go.com/GMA/Eco/ocean-acidification-hits-northwest-oyster-farms/story?id=10425738&page=1"While the effects are just beginning to be seen in our hatcheries, the oceans are now changing faster than they have ever changed over the last 200 million years," said Richard Freely of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, who has been studying ocean acidification for 20 years. maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=Tillamook,+Ore.&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=Tillamook,+OR,+USA&gl=uk&ei=NM2JTPjKEsS64gbFvZyVCg&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CB0Q8gEwAA The hatchery mentioned in the first link is situated in an intensive agricultural area with many watercourses emptying into an almost LAND-LOCKED LAGOON!! Yet it's "ocean acidification" that's causing the problem??? This is obviously conclusion led "research". Think this thread deserves some refreshment Don't you agree lazarus me old lobby horse

"It first started in 2007. We had a situation here when all of a sudden, our larvae started dying," said Wiegardt. " ""The chemistry is very simple. It is 101. Carbon dioxide makes the water more acidic, that is irrefutable," said Burke Hales, Oregon State University professor of oceanography. " These statements are from the ABC report. Somebody, at best, is mixed up, at worst there are some 'flying porkies' [type of fish!] Notice to readers, posters. Do have a look, but remember to read at least twice and then compare to the YouTube video. You're right Stuart, it's worse than I first thought. The hatchery's problem stemmed from a bacteria problem - hardly surprising in that lagoon. So the acidification story was an invention! Could someone with more time than me collate this information and put it to the University concerned and ask for an explanation? More eco-lies. What is the motivation for this?

www.wsg.washington.edu/mas/resources/shellfish_conf_08.html"Strategies and modifications for surviving Vibrio tubiashii in the hatchery Alan Barton, Oregon State University" The plot thickens: The very man mentioned in the Whisky Creek Hatchery video doing a presentation on the BACTERIA that caused the larvae mortality. Hatcherygate? You heard it here first.

www.cosmosmagazine.com/news/3123/ocean-acidification-impacting-coastal-rivers"Another danger is that coastal systems are highly variable. Adding the problem of acidification on top of their natural variability might push them over tipping points from which they cannot recover, added Burke Hales, an oceanographer at Oregon State University in Corvallis." It's that man again. Scaremongering at its worst. Why was there NO mention of "acidification" in the video?
