How A Handful Of Scientists Obscured The Truth On Issues From Tobacco Smoke To Global Warming by Naomi Oreskes & Erik Conway is a brilliant book. You can hear an intervioew with her at www.abc.net.au/rn/breakfast/stories/2010/3066076.htm"Author and history professor Naomi Oreskes argues that doubt and confusion about climate science has been, in part, driven by some of the individuals who encouraged governments to delay or deflect action on issues like tobacco smoking and acid rain"

I find it incredibly odd that the same people and institutions that denied there was a link between smoking and cancer are now very actively denying there is a link between atmospheric CO2 and global climate change.
This book explains who they are and why they're doing it.

This book explains who they are and why they're doing it. I think it may be because these people haven't moved on from the rebellious phase of adolescence.
