I'm thinking about buying a laptop PC at some time in the future but in doing so will I have as much accessibility to the Internet as my current table-top PC affords me, with a dedicated phone line access to the Internet??

There is no reason why not Abacus and I assume you will have Wi-fi? (do make sure it is a secure network!)
For reasons I won't dwell on I am not on line at home, but have realised that my latest htc phone hooked up to my laptop gives slow but at least workable Internet access.
The best one is of course when one of my neighbours comes on line with his unsecured wi-fi network! (I would still like to know which of the neighbours has a network he has called Sugared bollocks!)

Thanks jonjel but don't you have to be near a base station or something to get a good connection?

Not if you have a broadband connection and all the other gubbins. Gives you a 'range' of up to 50 yards, which is why I can log on to my neighbour. There are up to 5 around me, includng Sugared Bollocks.
Almost every Mway service is covered, as are many pubs, and I believe the whole of Swindon. However I understand that not many people know how to use it in Swindon........
Others much more in the know will almost certainly be more helpful

The only problem I found when buying a netbook recently was they now seem to ASSUME that we all have wireles broadband, hence the newer ones didn't have a network point! I finally bought a slightly older one, which did have.
Like laptops, unless you buy an expensive business one that is actually portable, the expectation seems to be that you are going to use it for home computing anyway, hence furthest you are ever going to take it is from room to room. I wouldn't recommend trying to actually carry it any further (like on a train) unless you have a penchant for weight-training.
Plus when in shops, you see all these poor bloody parents, and some shop assitant trying to persuade them to pay extra for the extra-humongous hard-drive, when 250 gig is probably going to be enough for anyone! With no real effort to actually find out WHAT their kid wants it for -- just sell them as much as you can, and bugger whether or not it is actually what they need. Which is why I always take my missus, she is in IT, hence just refuses anything the shop assistants try to sell, and if they refuse to go away, she just asks them hard questions they don't know the answer to...................
In which case, I ended up with what I needed, rather than the crap they were directed to try and sell to me!

Well, my router has a little ariel sticking out of the top so does that mean I have wireless broadband?

Ariel's Song by Shakespeare
Full fathom five thy father lies; Of his bones are coral made; Those are pearls that were his eyes: Nothing of him that doth fade, But doth suffer a sea-change Into something rich and strange: Sea-nymphs hourly ring his knell. Ding-dong! Hark! now I hear them, - Ding-dong, bell!

I suggest reading the instructions...........
Did you REALLY need to quote my whole post just to ask that question? You can reply without quoting you know................

Why that name? Best I could think of is that sugaring is a method of hair removal, hence sugared bollocks would be very smooth, and some men do that, or so I have heard...................I suggest you don't ask your neighbours directly though!

I bow to your superior knowledge on such matters STA.
I presume one melts the sugar on the stove, pours it on and when it sets you peel it off?
None of my neighbours appears to be in any discomfort in that area of their anatomy. However that guy on the mobility scooter............

Apparently many straight men shave their bits as well. Waxing or anything else, I'm not so sure, I'd have thought that would be a bit too delicate, but you never know! I'm sure there is some chap out there who tried his girlfriends hair removal cream on his bits with hilarious results....................

What I find strange is that the STA post above has been edited by Joanne. Something 'offensive' removed?
A thread that developed into a mild bit of humour is obviously a step too far.
Big Brother (or sister) is indeed watching us
