On the beach this week, hundreds of thousands of what I presume are eggs, contained in a clear tear-shaped jelly, about half an inch long, reddish-brown in colour. I can find no source identifying them on the net. Any ideas? My guess is that it's one of those mass spawnings, probably triggered by the new moon - possibly even by the equinocal new moon, if it's a once in twenty years or so event, as occurs elsewhere in nature. Any idea what they are?
