This is quite astonishing, don't you think? Whatever side of the debate you might be on - except, I would strongly urge, given this jawdropping display, hers. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0008zdp/politics-live-0410201927.30 for a few minutes. Now Stella Creasey, who has by her relentless campaigning for a number of years, managed to change the law of a whole country - a law of the deepest possible moral significance, and moreover one that is utterly dependent on accurate scientific information - and further declares that whatever anyone else says or does this law is done and cannot now be changed, seems to simcerely believe that a nine week old foetus is not nine inches long and as developed as the photograph (accurately) depicts, but is instead (pinch your fingertips together here, and peer into the sub-millimetre gap) "the size of a poppy-seed". A poppy seed is about, for those who may be as unaccountably ignorant as Ms.Creasey, the size of a full stop, and about as differentiated. This is a woman who "prefers to listen to the scientific experts" rather than "emotive" misinformation. For her scientifically expert views on Climate Change, address all enquiries to Ms.Greta Thunberg, Somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean*. * Somewhere flying home over it, to be pedantic; and, in other transatlantic flights, her boat and propaganda team. But Elton or Bonio paid for it, so that's okay.

In a similar vein (the thread is not about abortion, but the use/misuse of "science" to inform/corrupt public opinion and political policy) according to SKY News just now there are hundreds of teenage kids who are desperately looking for "help", or at least attention, to reverse their previous decision (encouraged and assisted by the medical and political Establishment) to not only change their gender - that's presumably, given it's been declared by a generation of radical feminists merely a "social construct", open to anyone at any time by totally harmless means - but their physico-sexual characteristics, to supposedly reflect that choice. This "condition" is now apparently officially labelled "Gender Dysphoria" - the feeling of discomfort at not having the right sexual "identity", that is, rather than not being able to make your mind up about the matter. The official treatment of our glorious State medical service authority is to help such patients achieve their desired "fit" between whatever gender they happen to decide to feel like and their actual physical constitution. Immensely challenging and dangerous hormone treatments to even more drastic surgery. chopping bits off, sticking bits on, and so forth. This is Government mandated tax-funded medically enforced (a doctor can and has been struck off for declining to cooperate) policy - the Hippocratic Oath and the precept "First Do No Harm" belonging to the antediluvian times of pre-NHS unenlightenment.
The problem is of course how one distinguishes between the acknowledged mental illness of "dysphoria" and the obviously more scientifically objective feeling of being born in the wrong body. At least, it would be a problem, were it not for the immense progressive breakthrough of realising the whole question of what sex one might be is entirely and solely a matter of personal preference. No problem, then. Similarly, progressively minded medical professionals now severely frown on the old-fashioned notion of "body dysphoria" - you feel you're too fat and ugly, my dear? No problem - if you think you are, you are, let no one try to tell you different, and here's some laxatives to assist in your courageous struggle towards anorexia.
