And yet again, cut and paste with the addition of am emoticon -- doesn't actually constitute discussion does it......................

Problem is, I've forgotten so much of it. But seriously, do you not find it very satisfying to be able to communicate, in your own words, information to other people? If nothing else it's a good mental exercise and actually a challenge to convey ideas as clearly as possible. This is not as easy as some people might think, especially when trying to explain the 'basics' to a beginner. Think of the challenge an expert faces when writing a book for beginners about their area of expertise. I do indeed find it satisfying and find that the very act of explaining gives ne new insights and even makes things clearer (to me). The whole of the latter part of my career consisted of just that, taking highly complex systems, analysing them and then setting about explaining them. simply , brick by brick, to highly educated (PhD) people. It became an art - unfortunately, not an art than can generally be practiced here because of the continual background of abuse. It has now reached the stage where I simply ignore the strident abuser on this board. Had I not done that I would have left this board at a very early stage It is a madhouse where the inmates try to outshout one another. WRONG! For God's sake!

Except when your inability to listen to or process criticism or dissent leads you into 'teaching' what is actually incorrect -- as in the information theory thread.
If you want to use someone pretending to not know as a test-subject,. then fire away, but I don't see that that actually helps in better explanations when it comes to people that really don't understand.
Which is a shame, given that you're still wrong when it comes to information theory, and now seemingly totally unwilling to listen. You do really need to be able to detach your own ego from the learning process -- even the most abusive or annoying poster (not that I'm admitting I am such) may still be right.
the point being, I tried very very hard to explain, in detail, with references, where you were going wrong in your explanation. you were the one who resorted to open abuse in that case, I think, preferring to think of me as mad or deluded, rather than actually address the points I raised. Hence seems you are not willing to learn, even though you claim (or presume) to be a teacher of others.
Play silly games with others if you like, but I'll still pull you up when I think you're wrong, and can show you're wrong. If youn think that constitutes strident abuse, then that's your problem, not mine.

Yes, I have noticed a tendency of late of 'baiting' activity on this MB which, I'm sad to say, seems to be coming predominantly from the girls. Girls teasing boys? You must of course be aware of the ringleader.

At least naymissus takes the trouble to spell things out to us lesser mortals, something I think we should all value.
