West St/12th Avenue section of the Westside Highway (aka Joe diMaggio Highway) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Side_HighwayThe re-building you referred to, lazarus, was nowhere near the waterlevel stretch of the Westside Highway (properly called the Henry Hudson Parkway north of 72nd Street) that Hansen can see from his office on West 112th Street today, as he did back in 1988. So what are you claiming now? That he wasn't talking about the Westside Highway but the Henry Hudson Parkway? The point is that there is nothing to collaborate what was said and this alleged conversation seem to have come to light just when the alleger is publishing a Hansen bashing book.

Why don't you email Bob Reiss, havelock, and get it straight from the horse's mouth? www.bobreiss.com/He is the origin of the story. He is a warmist propagandist like yourself. Ask him. Bob can be reached at bobreiss at hotmail.com Let us know what he says!

Never been to NY personally but I'm sure an 80 foot rise in sea level there would have made the news - even the BBC since it fitted their "remit". Does anyone have a link to a news story about this? Du-uh.

Anything scientific to add to this thread?
. . . . Thought not

Yes - Mr Hansen predicted 80 feet of sea level rise by 2000. You pointed to a link which stated 136mm actual rise in 40 years. My personal recordings have shown negligable rise. What have your personal recordings shown?

Yes - Mr Hansen predicted 80 feet of sea level rise by 2000. But he didn't. None of the science he published states anything remotely like this. But this has neatly demonstrated that people without evidence to support their beliefs will latch on to the smallest thing and delude themselves it is really significant. Even if he was on record, recorded on tape or film saying this it wouldn't be science unless it was published and peered. It would just be personal opinion (one he has never publicly expressed remember), NOT science. Of course if he was saying something that supported your beliefs you would accept it as good 'evidence' just as you do with nut jobs like Glenn Beck.

"None of the science he published states anything remotely like this." -----
He said it to camera! Very accessible for all us plebs for whom it was intended! Here it is again! Short and sweet.
Ah, the dumbing down of climatology! Sometimes it comes back to bite you in the bum.

Unfortunately science IS ideology for James Hansen (and vice versa).

Nice movie! And you call Glenn Beck a nut job, lazarus? I'm afraid your banal and obtuse trotting out of the IPCC line makes you look like a fool.

Here's more from Glen Beck. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y40D1Kgb8ngThis is mainstream American news. Oh the irony of it. No science here. That's why I'm posting this on a science forum. IRONY writ large here. Remember that Clash song that opened with the lines : Sitting in my garage with my bullshit detector.....this interview makes me so angry..........

Nice movie! And you call Glenn Beck a nut job, lazarus? Sorry, perhaps a more appropriate term would be 'Wing nut'.

The difference between Hansen and Bexk is that Hansen is adjusting the NASA/GISS global mean temp database amongst other things. He is a "player".
Do we really want an eco-loony in a position like this?
