Hi Joanne,
It seems from #14 on the Ban Bin thread that Simplex sees herself as the board's monitor
Is this an official appointment, or is it a piece of self-promotion?
The most cursory reading of her post history reveals no comment on matters of science, but rather a deliberate intent to irritate posters and to disrupt the normal flow of discourse. Her habit of interposing questions of style rather than substance, is clearly designed to disrupt.
Where are her threads? Where is her interest in science, in technology?
I would think it no loss if she were to be suspended for a while,

...a deliberate intent to...disrupt the normal flow of discourse... Sad to say, carnyx, the normal flow of discourse on this board is such that a little disruption is almost a prerequisite of the furtherance of scientific enquiry thereon. I do what little I can to help.

Except there are far more posters who make (and continue to make) worse abuses than this (we all know who they are!), and they seem to just carry on scot-free...............
I mention no names, but the degree of hypocrisy from some here is stunning!

Save your sympathy for STA, jean. She was sowing the seeds of bullying on the BBC science board long before she ever reaped them here. Extraordinarily aggressive for some reason and not a scintilla of humour to compensate.

You ain't seen nothing, I'm sweetness and light on here compared to myself in real life!
Why is it that when women are a bit forceful, we ALWAYS get called aggressive, men in the same situation don't................

I know exactly what you are abacus.................
WHY do you bother, that's what puzzles me? Does it really entertain you that much, does it really boost your ego? After all, it isn't exactly hard is it? But why anyone would want to expend as much time and effort as you do just attempting to insult some anonymous person on the web......................
Nowt so queer as folk, it would seem, and nothing like the web to bring out the worst in some people, to get then to behave in a way they wouldn't dream of in person (or probably not, but you never know!).

I am "forceful" and sometimes vehement but I manage to do it without needless aggression, I hope.
Your humourless self-obsession is revealed yet again above because you clearly can't distinguish ribbing from hostility. You invite ribbing because of your aggressive mannerisms but then you treat it as "homophobia". Learn the difference. Learn the difference too between sincerity and satire.
You are fortunate enough to be sharing a board with two of the most accomplished writers and commentators I have ever come across on the boards. Nay, in particular, with his huge breadth of experience has umpteen different modes and styles which are endlessly entertaining in their various ways. You have only one - bleak, humourless self-obsession and the desire to annihilate opposition. Get over yourself, as the old saw goes.

Sounds like an accurate description of the old BBC board. At least this forum isn't infested by left wing hippy moderators and serial cat-pee'ers. I have much respect for you, STA, for fighting your corner without the help of a biased moderation team. How I miss sciencebiker - the snivelling cowardly shit. And bumbling old ashley....he was such fun.
