Hi there - you and me are supposedly the same poster (according to some). I think I'm much more polite than you but I guess we could be Jekyll and Hyde

I may be being particularly dense but I've no idea what this is supposed to mean

I get the feeling Stuart is a bit of a ladies' man. He thinks you are 'Havelock Will Travel'! Does anyone think I look a bit unprepared on my avatar?

I'd assumed 'Havelock' was from the Discworld novels.

Well just to the cat among the pidgeons, I think it's Lazzzies missus. Hence the remark. Here's my thought train... Their posts seem to be synchronised, that suggests inter-communication. Havelock is 'Gender: Undisclosed' Laz. says ''I work as an engineer for a pharma company'' Google 'pharma company havelock' [try it for Yourself] QED I liked the 'pussy cat' avatar so looked at the site, there are some 'eye-openers'! there. I do like the ladies, despite its unfashionabiliy at present. good to see You here. You do look a little 'unprepared' but I took You to be a 'cat of a different stripe' anyway... Cheers, Stuart

Lazarus
The function of this board is to provide a forum for entertaining and informative discussion of science-related matter not a grandstand for someone who thinks no discussion is possible unless based on “peer-reviewed” papers. We are not, after all, trying to emulate the behaviour of a court calling expert witnesses, but enabling people to discuss matters that interest them in their own words and within their own understanding.
We have yet to discern that you possess either the ability or intention to debate honestly with other borders and we have given you ample opportunity to demonstrate it . Your ignorance of the debates and controversies which surround the subjects about which you post is making this board a laughing stock. So in the interests of creating conversations that people wish to read and respond to we have decided we must dispense with further input from you.
We have extended the benefit of the doubt for long enough to assess your intentions. Now is the time to call it a day. Thanks for choosing this board.

I've not looked in here for a few days having been busy with work and life and things like that and I'm very disappointed with what I see here now. The reason given for the exclusion of Lazarus really is too much. I rather hoped that this might be a place to discuss science but the statement made by Joanne Byers, seemingly promoting an anti-science agenda puts this place beyond the pale; I'm a science teacher and I cannot be party to this. I do not have the time or the emotional or intellectual inclination to invest here under these circumstances so for the time being, I am out.

I tend to agree with you Helen, though I am not going to abandon things here just yet.
If people want to abuse me (so far they have not, but give it time) then I can so easily ignore them, as I can ignore those who are on one-trick ponies, and I would have thought that most are able to do just that.
To join a board which after only a few week is banning people makes me wonder if the banned have fallen out with those baning them.
That said I quite like the way this board is laid out, and that it moves fairly fast as opposed to one or two postings a day.

Although I publically called for the removal of Lazarus due to his continued posting of eco-propaganda and rejection of all evidence except peer reviewed papers, I feel he should have been given a warning or two first. A suspension perhaps. He could have been restricted to opening a couple of threads per day and sanctioned if he didn't debate them fully and with fair intent. I don't want to see people being banned unless they have committed a serious "crime". We don't want the eco-brigade to think this board is biased in any way. We'll leave cencorship and bias to the experts - them.
