Is the idea of being able to opt for a cesarean birth (rather than a natural one) on the NHS simply an overindulgence for women and placing a yet more unnecessary burden on limited resources? Natural birth is not normally dangerous and certainly does not carry with it the risks of a cesarean procedure so what is the rationale behind these proposed guidelines? Are some women simply 'too posh to push?'
