Skeptic
A classic example of the effect a dogmatic policy made by technologically illiterate politicians. Everyone in the motor industry knows that the breakthrough in high energy battery storage is years (maybe decades) away, but those same companies know they must pay lip service to the politicians' dreams. The whole energy debate and the policies that flow from it have been skewed to appease the green movement. We're left with a mishmash of policies that are neither good for the environment nor for the economy. Don't get me wrong, battery powered, short distance town cars are perfectly feasible. The trouble is that they are charged from generating plants that use coal or gas, so the CO2 saving is - at best- 10%. If our politicians had had the guts to develop a proper energy policy, those cars would be fed by nuclear plants giving a genuine CO2 reduction. One other fact that no politician seems to have grasped is that if we all changed to electric cars, the electrical grid would collapse!
