I was watching Newsnight last night and it was mentioned that DNA testing (of meat products) might be a bit of smoke and mirrors.
It seems that you can only test for specific things, for example you could say that your beef products did not contain pork, or horse, but you could not say they did not contain camel or crocodile unless you were actually testing for those. So you will never be able to tell what they actually contain unless you test for everything.

Six bucks for a camelburger? Madness. Aussies have been eating camels ever since they were imported as pack animals for exploration. I bought a couple of camel steaks in Nottingham recently: tough but tasty. As for crocodile, it's tender and delicious - a lot nicer than the average massproduced burger, but rather more expensive.
The thing to watch out for is human DNA.
