No surprise to me that the UK is one of the least racist countries in the world, and India and Bangladesh are among the most racist countries in the world, but we all knew that anyway didn't we? This is according to data produced by the Washington Post and reproduced in the DM (my favourite newspaper that I carry prominently when addressing lefties) I wonder if anyone else, like me , sees the irony of importing wholesale those cultures that are the least tolerant then being accused by those very communities of racism? Indeed some members of those communities make their living by continually accusing Britain of racism. Alibahi-Brown springs immediately to mind - but she is not a good example being regarded by some as the most stupid woman in Britain

I see the French don't come out very well in that survey, do they? They were probably thinking of the Germans. And the Spanish. And us. And the Arabs. At least the feeling is fairly reciprocated.
I wonder if we'd have come out so well if they'd counted "Gypsies" as "another race"? We were probably savvy enough to say "Travellers" instead, and the Washington Post journalists, being American, were too thick to twig. Similarly, they probably didn't know what we all meant by "Paul Daniels".

I gave a young Somali lady friend some advice a few days ago. She has recently been elected in the local council elections.
I told her that the sooner she promoted her ideas as opposed to her colour religion and ethnic origin the sooner people would take her seriously, and that when we see Barack Obama on screen our first thought is he is President of the USA, not that he is black.

t was good of you to try to disabuse her of the idea that getting elected to the local council is a sign of being taken seriously. I doubt if it worked though, did it? These councillors are sooooo deluded.

Indeed they are Mr Sonde. Puppets on strings being manipulated by their leaders. But I live in hope that advice from a non-PC person might one day be of value.
And on the other suggestion you made about reporting up to Pro-Boads, I really can't be arsed with people who merely want to snipe and use personal abuse.
Now back to the racism. I am ready, fingers poised over keyboard.
I recall doing a job in Leicester a few years ago. The company was entirely run and managed by people from the Indian sub-continent. I needed some materials to complete the job and the manager came with me to give me directions. As we passed through one area he told me to lock the doors. Why? Full of blacks he told me. What he meant was the West Indian community. I found it quite funny at the time.
More amusing on the same site is when I took another engineer with me and lunchtimes we were asked if we needed anything from the chippy. Just for devilment he would always ask for a steak pie and chips. Then we would watch the row going on as to who was going to collect it, and handle a sacred beast, cooked and in a pastry case!

Not surprising that the most racist nations are also to be found within the Islamic belt, is it? Their religious xenophobia is unsurpassed anywhere in the world.

No.
It is a bit like beauty. You know it when you come across it but can't describe it.

I could define beauty functionally, as the property of whatever gives me visual pleasure. Race is clearly supposed to be more concrete, but it's a word I don't use because it has no objective or functional definition of which I am aware.
Anyway, if I were a race relations professional, I'd quickly point out (in a paid-for BBC interview, of course) that Brits are actually the most racist and xenophobic people in the world but also the most accomplished sociopathic liars. This would be taken up by various politicians, religious professionals, journalists, failed ambulance-chasers and god knows what other scum and turned into yet another spurious industry: "unmasking the true racism beneath the British veneer of tolerance." I'd be offered a peerage, and the next time I was nicked for speeding, the meeja would condemn the fuzz for persecuting me. Except of course the Daily Wail which would suggest that if I don't like it, I can bugger off back to whatever hellhole I came from (Middlesex, actually).
Just wait and see if I'm right.
O tempora! O mores!

Anybody care to venture a definition of "race"? A usually recreational activity involving an element of physical exertion and cooperative competitive spirit where a man nearly always comes first.
