Can't find the original thread, but this is worth a fresh one. Light and frothy but it works, and has shafts of sheer brilliance, especially in the magnificent third series - magnificent not least for the awesomely beautiful Monica Bellucci playing the role she was born for. Before anyone objects that there are men in it, behaving like human beings, rather then everything that women might demand at all and any time, yes, there are. But there are lesbians in it, too (and, of course, they behave even worse.)

Has a great soundtrack too - and not all classical or operatic. Finally discovered this marvellous lady through this show, for example - no idea how she's escaped me for the past fifty years:

no idea how she's escaped me for the past fifty years: Either by luck or judgement.

You don't like it? Post your own sample, then.

You missed the point completely.

You missed the point completely. No, 'fraid not - you did. You need to sharpen up your language skills if you're going to start trying to fire off jokes - if it's worth it at all, get it at least in the vicinity of your target.

You fed alan that line. You didn't mean to of course, but you did. Probably as a result of your inadequate language skills.

If I'd meant to or not, I'd have done it in a way that it made sense! Unless he really doesn't like it, of course - in which case, it's simply a display of poor taste, and he's welcome to give examples of more of it. You understand now, or do I need to explain further?

The music is quite good - an interesting mix of fretted Western intervals with the more subtle Eastern ones. But like most musicians, I can't resist a cheap joke.

Try this then. A recent piece of magic from the wonderful PostmodernJukebox, a brilliant rotating collective combo of top-class jazz musicians and singers that produce cover versions of modern hits in varying vintage styles. Some work better than others, but they're all great fun, and high quality. They started off in the piano player's living room a few years ago, and have progressed, producing a different number virtually every week, to making what must be serious money (they get millions of youtube and itunes downloads, and sell out world tours) - what a great way to gig. This is one of their best, I think - superb vocalists, and with the brilliant Chloe Feoranzo on the clarinet.

I read Jordan Peterson's (the modern Patron Saint of Sanity) excellent new book 12 Rules for Life recently - more good stuff in itself - and he turned me on to this excellent site (where this book had its genesis): www.quora.com/I've been noticing it for a few years, popping up more on more in any google enquiry, but hadn't realised what a brilliant resource it is. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quora

Talking of which, this one's especially for Alan, our soi-disant professional ethicist. I hope our resident "Green" postmodern charlatan enjoys it just as much:
