We can have sub-boards each devoted to a particular poster, so that others could vent their spleens..... or better still! How about Thanking the person who took the trouble to set this up [at no cost to us] for US. StuartG Well, I think some form of organization would be of benefit; surely we can improve on the BBC model, can't we? Yes, I think we should express great gratitude to whoever is responsible for providing this new and (hopefully) improved MB. THANK YOU.

I agree with the idea of splitting into subjects but it could be done on a fairly course level, eg Astronomy, Biology, Environmental, Technology etc. Who do we canvas for such a change? Joanne Byers? I agree, and we need moderation to make sure some order is kept but I have seen no sign of any moderators thus far. Perhaps some of us could volunteer to act as moderators, especially those with previous experience. It would be a pity to ruin this MB through lack of proper supervision. There clearly is moderation going on. Twice today I have composed a reasonable response to a previous post only to find that when I try to post reply, the thread has been locked. A bit frustrating but, bearing in mind the direction/sentiment expressed by some on those threads, perhaps justified. However, an explanation as to why those threads are locked would be useful.

What suggestions do you have for sub-boards?
I go with Lazarus's suggestion of
"Astronomy, Biology, Environmental, Technology"
Any others?

Fine, but there's a lot more to the environment than AGW. AGW content is always the liveliest and busiest so I think it deserves it's own sub-board.

You don't need to overdo it I suppose but you could have something along the lines of:
The Universe (Astronomy, Cosmology, Space Exploration, etc.);
General Climate Change (AGW and so forth);
Life (Biology, Evolution, Anthropology, etc.);
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics;
Computers, Electronics, Internet, Technology, etc.

That's not a bad list. Additionally, many forums have a 'board help' adjunct for queries about how to use features, report technical problems, and general site news. Indeed, discussions like this. Also complaints, of course

If I have allocated any thread to the wrong sub-board please let me know. Looks pretty good to me Joanne. One last thought though. What about topics like meteorology, geology, oceanography, vulcanism, etc. Do you think it would be worth having one more category for earth sciences?
