Many moons ago I was in a bar in Spain and saw the waiter take a bottle of bubbly out of the fridge, open it, pour a couple of glasses then put a meta spoon handle down in the neck of the bottle and replace it in the fridge. I asked why and was told it kept the bubbly bubbly. I puzzled over this, and can see no logical reason why it should work.
And I saw the same thing over the weekend in the UK.
On the very rare occasions I have not finished either the first bottle or more likely the second I have sealed the bottle with one of those expanding rubber stoppers, which works up to a point.
So, does the spoon work, or is it as I suspect that each waiter has his own spoon and is paid commission on what he sells!

A balloon! Gadzooks the man must be mental, though since they were 99cent balloons.....
Be interesting to see whether stuffing it in the freezer helps as your guru on the website reckons it is temperature related.
Next time I have a few hours to waste I may give that a go.
