Judith Curry, Professor of Climatology at Georgia Tech has opened her own blog. She joins several other climate academics like Prof Roger Pielke Sr and Prof Roy Spencer who have availed themselves of this excellent means of communication with the academic and the lay audience alike. Those who dismiss the blogosphere and harp on about the unsurpassed beauty of “peer review” take note. The Curry blog is called “Climate Etc” judithcurry.com/

Judith Curry 11Sept 2010
[The Hockey Stick Illusion] "has almost become a litmus test for seeing who has an open mind, open enough to at least read the book and ponder the actual issues that it raises."
I bet this opinion from a "respected source" won't find its way into wikipedia!
It only takes a few like Curry to speak out for the upcoming generation of academic "junior" climatologists to realise that it is OK to depart from the "consensus" and embrace first "uncertainty" and later downright denial of the legitimacy of the "Index"* and of the "Inquisition"* which is currently enforcing "right-thinking" in this infant branch of science.
*Index Librorum Prohibitorum ("List of Prohibited Books") was a list of publications prohibited by the Catholic Church. *Inquisition - the institution of the Roman Catholic Church for combating or suppressing heresy. I have always thought "heretic" was a more accurate description of the sceptic than denier.

Judith says
"One of my early posts will be on the topic of “labels” and how useless (not to mention polarizing) they’ve become"
Take note, all you who call your opponents "deniers", "trolls", "liars" etc
If you cannot deal with the arguments per se, shut up!

Looks like scepticism isn't allowed on "sciencefile". Only pro - AGW posts allowed. Marvellous
