I have got a Christmas present in the form of a barometer/weather station. The instructions say that I may need to calibrate the pressure reading for my location.
At present the air pressure reading from the BBC for my location is 1020, which I assume is mm of mercury. My Barometer dial runs from 28.3 inches to 30.8 inches. At 25mm to an inch I think that the current pressure is 41 inches, so how can I calibrate this?

it is actually 1020 millibars, not mm of mercury. 1000mb = 29.53 inches of mercury, so 1020mb = 30.12 inches.

Fascinating, has the barometer not got mb as a dual scale (mine has). The barometer capsule in mine is adjusted by a plastic screw in the back. Just a point, if yours is the same then keep tapping the dial while adjusting as otherwise you may over correct. P

Many thanks for the replies. In fact I think that the barometer seems to be set quite accurately already, fortunately.
