The Director of the Scott Polar Research Institute was pretty sure that it will be much colder within the next few thousand years. We are not in for an inexorable heat death courtesy of CO2.

Clive Best on Tallbloke's blog says The big question for the human race is just how long the current interglacial will last – what triggers the onset of a new ice age? Based on the last 10 ice ages, it seems highly probable that the next glacial period will start within about 1500 years. Global warming will be seen as having been a minor blip in the overall glacial cycle. Much more complicated stuff here A better explanation for the end of ice agestallbloke.wordpress.com/2012/09/29/a-better-explanation-for-the-end-of-ice-ages/#more-8719
