I know this is sad, but some of you may have seen the news report that the fairly recent owner of the Segway company has died. He has only owned the company for a few months.
Apparently he was driving one and went over a cliff on his own estate and was killed.
I don't know if that will deter our old friend LL in his passion for these things.

Well thanks for the info, jonjel. I now know the origin of the ghastly new and intrusive advertisement on the side of Leeds United's stand that I pass occasionally. Defense contractor AND green promoter. That will cause some cognitive dissonance with helen at al.

It's always sad when someone with the welfare of folk and the environment dies, as Marchesarosa noted with rather unpleasant notes of schadenfreude that she now knows who one of the sponsors of Leeds United is. There's no cognitive dissonance here Mary as there isn't for the folk who produce Kevlar or nuclear power. Might have a problem with the folk who designed depleted uranium tipped bullets, anti-personel mines delivered by cluster bombs, sarin.........the list is endless. Even the poor chap who created the useful but ultimately dangerous substances tetraethyl lead and cfcs had the welfare of his fellow citizens as well as profit as a motive. A bit of humility Mary? It's a fabulous virtue.

Why have not you come back at me over this Marchesarosa. Here's something said about him: Jimi is perhaps best known for his charity work with Help for Heroes and the Leeds Community Foundation. A £10m gift to the Foundation earlier this month saw his lifetime charitable donations top £23m. Much of the work done by Hesco for the British Armed Forces has been in the realm of protection in battle not proaction. Why did you call and virtually disparage his death? Mary, call me for my request for an answer from you.

Much of the work done by Hesco for the British Armed Forces has been in the realm of protection in battle not proaction. Proaction indeed! I wonder what that is in military terms? I wonder if 'protection in battle' is better for the limp-wristed pinkos than 'proaction' (whatever that is)? If a soldier is better protected in battle it makes him more effective in killing people (which is a majot part of his job description)- does that make you happy with the donation? Warmonger!

MY last post to this thread has been banned. No reason given; no names of organisations or individuals named out of context mentioned in the post, it was, like many of the posts here contententious. I'm not sure of the process but I would like to make a formal request to be relieved of my membership of this site. Posting contentious, by that I mean anti Tea-Party science is akin to saying the next republican candidate for the US presidency is the spawn of beelzebub. This is just not good enough. Publish this live please and damn you all!

Can I, from here anul my membership? I am, whatever. If I see any of my posts quoted out of context I will sue; I've read the regs' (copied and varified the files)and have your numbers! I'm fairly new to this message board and blog posting malarky and in fairness to the majority you seem like fine people but for those who are tolerated here for their nastyness, the rest of you dirty yourselves entertaining their vitriol. It's ok to disagree on an issue but why not reply with an argument that doesn't impugn that persons intellect, virtue and value to society? I note that many of the corespondents on this board are from the USA, I'm a Brit and straight talking can be misconstrued as plain rudeness over here. 'Get used to it' you may say; respect others I'd reply. Anyhew. Enjoy your thread, one less Brit involved, one more bit of the world bigger for Americans!
