The alarum bells are sounding throughout the lovely cities of Bavaria, so reports R4 this morning- 'Prepare, prepare for No Deal!'
Similarly, the British Government is now, belatedly, taking the prospect seriously in its preparations.
So we may witness what many Brexiteers welcome, a 'Hard Brexit'by default - due to the egregiously poor negotiating skills of the UK and, especially, the EU
Remarkably, the Irish Taoiseach reports that he has been assured by the EU Commission, that if 'No Deal' is the outcome, there will be no 'hard border' with NI. This is quite astonishing as the last year has been almost exclusively consumed with squabbles about a 'hard border'.
The EU were only kidding, weren't they?
Has there EVER been such an example of such negotiating incompetence in the history of Peaceful Negotiations?
R4 also reports that the EU Commission are not receptive to the amendment to the White Paper forced through quite cleverly by Jacob Rees-Mogg- the mutual collection of each others customs tarrifs. This apparent rejection is why it was inserted of course
What now brown cow?
My prognosis
Well May cannot last - she has lost the trust of the British people -and her own Brexit (and in many cases Remain) MPs
We shall probably soon have a Brexit PM (I have joined the Conservative Party to get a vote in the Leadership elections)
Olly Robins will get the push - as will Hammond
The negotiations will bypass Barnier - his handling so far has been catastrophic for the EU, and will pass to the Council of Ministers
A mutually beneficent deal will be horse-traded so that Germany's lucrative export market to the UK is not damaged, and the Southern State's holiday income is undented
Britain will be a fully independent State as was the electorate's decision in 2016
Mrs May will succeed Mr Blair as the worst PM Britain has ever has had the misfortune to suffer
