Anti-Semitism These are examples of anti-semitism according to the IHRA (International Holocaust Remebrance Alliance):
"Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.
Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis."
(a) In the light of a recent Israeli parliamentary vote that asserts Israel is a Jewish State (even though more than 25% of its population is non-Jewish) (b) Israel has acquired and holds territiry belonging to other people , just as the Nazis (and many other totalitarian regimes have done [including the British Empire] have done):
are these examples reasonable or unreasonabe?

The whole thing is absurd. Whatever you think of Jeremy Corbyn, I don't believe for a momnet that he is anti-semitic. My suspicion is that this nonesense originates in some pro-Israel organ and is part of an attempt to get the BDS campaign stopped. Imagine if there was a campaign to prevent people criticising Iran or Saudi Arabia because, anti-muslim speech being a hate crime, they are muslim countries. It would be ridiculous. (This whole "drawing comparisons" phrase is really stupid anyway, comparing things means nothing in itself. Let me compare a dinosaur and a flea; they are both living things, but there is barely any likeness between, they are in fact very different. If they said "Stating that Israeli policies are akin to Nazi policies is anti-semitic" that would at least make sense, though of course would still be wrong) I am in agreement with this statement by the "Jews for Justice for Palestinians" organisation. www.independent.co.uk/voices/antisemitisim-jews-israel-labour-party-bds-jewish-coalition-palestine-a8458601.html

The debate is a sideshow - internal political pointscoring and unworthy of the Labour Party. The IHRA represents exactly what it says on the tin, power to its elbow. What the Labour Party needs is a simple rule that nobody's words or actions are beyond scrutiny but denigrating people for what they are, or what you think they believe, is not permitted.

Leaving antisemitism aside, I'm completely at one with you, except for : 'denigrating people for what they are, or what you think they believe, is not permitted'. What, Nazis?

Note: "nobody's words or actions are beyond scrutiny". What defines a Nazi, apart from words and actions? The fact that somebody chooses to wear a badge announcing his loathsome attitudes and intentions just makes it easier for the rest of us to identify and eliminate him pre-emptively.
