I attach a severely edied version of an article by Allister Heath in today's Telegraph. Please read it and weep tears of rage for a Britain that is fast slipping out of our grasp
"The (Brexit) theory was that leaving the EU would …... have built on the UK’s unique strengths ....…... Britain would have become like Switzerland or Australia, in control of its destiny and borders …....after... two years, however, ... the outlook is grim. …. it is now …. likely that the establishment’s refusal to implement Brexit properly, its decision not even to try for a Canadian style free trade agreement, its pusillanimous inability to stand up for Britain in the face of EU bullying, will instead break our political system. The consequences of a Brexit betrayal would be catastrophic....Support for mainstream parties would collapse and new ..(extremist) ones would emerge. A Brexit sell-out, …. would make the UK ...an angry nation, openly at war over class and identitarian issues. Britain’s chattering classes don’t seem to realise the extent of the damage wreaked by Angela Merkel, one of the most overrated politicians of this century. …... the elites (stopping) Brexit are unleashing a far greater backlash, one that would make leaving the EU without a deal seem like a tea party. Their lack of self-awareness is staggering, proof ...(of their)...stupid(ity). ...to halt the collapse of our politics........ requires a dramatic u-turn. (We).. need to leave the EU properly….(and to).... to vocally express (our) pride in this country,... ….. why is the establishment willing to gamble everything for its irrational love of a failing super-state? Why? Because the outcome is of no importance to those responsible for it!
All that concerns politicians and bureaucrats is their own careers. By creating a fudge, politicians can escape the blame for failure, appeal to the "middle ground" to accept a very British compromise, and wash their hands of the future "which you all voted for". The more fudge, anomalies and grey areas remain, the more civil servants cannot be replaced by simple tick boxes. And lawyers always win.
Given the 50-50 split of the electorate, it doesn't matter to any member of parliament whether he votes for or against any deal or none. As long as there are more than two candidates at the next election, it is almost certain that the sitting party will win any given constituency if there is no other major national or constituency issue. It therefore behoves every MP to ensure that Brexit dominates the news, and the meeja just love a circus.
In the end, you will pay more tax, MPs will vote themselves larger salaries, and the usual graft and corruption will continue as before. The trains will not run on time and the NHS will be sold.

Why? Because the outcome is of no importance to those responsible for it! Of course. Cameron's effeteness came thru, and Osborne's arrogance too. (Why they were lauded so long is a mystery.) They were never going to care, because they didn't have to; and didn't have it in them.

For all their vapid posturing and disastrous domestic policies, C and O did just one thing right.
When Merkel opened her arms to any migrant dross that claimed to have lost their papers, the UK government stuck by the UN convention on refugees: they must be accommodated in the first safe country they reach. Which means that, unless they have managed to make an extremely difficult sea journey, bribed a pilot, or been smuggled out by our own military or latterday Kindertransport, the UK is not bound to accept anyone claiming refugee status, but is committed to fund genuine refugee facilities in safe countries close to the source. Which we do.
Apart from that, I don't recall anyone "lauding" either of the incompetent pair.
