...a new paper in the UK that shows warmer weather saves lives. I really liked this part: …they found there were only 0.7 deaths per million people per year due to warming in the hottest part of the year, but a decrease of fully 85 deaths per million people per year due to warming in the coldest part of the year, for a phenomenal lives-saved to life-lost ratio of 121.4. It would be a shame if the weather went back to somewhat cooler as experienced during the mid 20th-century cooling or, even worse, during the Little Ice Age!

It is true that we here in the UK will not suffer as badly from increased global temperatures - unless you live near an area prone to flooding (and areas not classified as such now may well be in the future) but there are many parts of the world where millions of people will not be quite so fortunate.
Bit of a case of 'I'm all right Jack'?

You are weighing a purported hypothetical risk of "flooding" against actual evidence of a reduction in mortality as a result of warmer weather. When you can compare like data with like present the information and it may be worth a discussion. Until then your hypothetical scaremongering and moralistic posturing is unworthy of this science board. Remember this?

Until recently the warmer climate of the past was referred to as the Holocene Climate Optimum.
So what's changed?
