Not sure how many posters have kids/grandkids/nieces/nephews, but as it's near Xmas, I thought that this old arithmetic conundrum might provide some fun and discussion when everyone is bored with the TV! Three people go out for a meal. The bill comes and it is £30, so they each put in £10. The waiter comes back a little embarrassed and says he'd make a mistake and the bill should have been £25. He gives them back £5. They decide that because of the waiter's honesty, they would take back £1 each and leave the remaining £2 as a tip. In the taxi on the way home, one of the diners decides to do the sums. He knows they each paid £9, making a total of £27. He knows they left a £2 tip, making a total of £29. He is mystified as to where the other pound went. It's much better after a few glasses of alcoholic grape juice! P
