Phil Jones, who thinks UHI is negligible, should look at this. It finds that urban areas can be much, much hotter than surrounding countryside. Far hotter than Jones will admit. Since nearly all surface temperature stations are in urban areas and/or at airports this is bound to artificially enhance the sampled purported "global" mean temperature.
Purported CO2-induced "global warming" is, in fact, mainly a measurement of the UHI.
