Hansen would rather have us ruled by ChinaChairman Han Sen? Pat Michaels opines on Hansen's longed-for China-style dictatorship of climatologists: NASA’s Hansen prefers rule by decree to fight ‘global warming’Excerpts: From the Washington Times Monday, January 17, 2011 www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/jan/17/china-style-dictatorship-of-climatologists/The nation’s most prominent publicly funded climatologist is officially angry about this [US election results], blaming democracy and citing the Chinese government as the “best hope” to save the world from global warming. He also wants an economic boycott of the U.S. sufficient to bend us to China’s will. … According to Mr. Hansen, compared to China, we are “the barbarians” with a “fossil-money- ‘democracy’ that now rules the roost,” making it impossible to legislate effectively on climate change. Unlike us, the Chinese are enlightened, unfettered by pesky elections. Here’s what he blogged on Nov. 24: “I have the impression that Chinese leadership takes a long view, perhaps because of the long history of their culture, in contrast to the West with its short election cycles. At the same time, China has the capacity to implement policy decisions rapidly. The leaders seem to seek the best technical information and do not brand as a hoax that which is inconvenient.” ------- How bloody naive can you get? He should know better than running into the arms of a totalitarian state. Remember the fellow travellers, like Bernard Shaw and pals who lauded the Soviet Union because they couldn't see the wood for the trees either? Everything looks very nice, doesn't it, from a distance and when you have a great big axe to grind?

I see Louise has also had the temerity to post on ClimateAudit in defense of her hero, Hansen. The discussion is about the GISS adjustment for UHI and Hansen's misuse of nightlights as a proxy for degree of Urbanisation. She says:
"If a doctor discovered a cure for currently lethal medical condition, would you not expect him to promote his discovery? If a journalist discovered a mega miscarriage of justice, would you not expect him to campaign to have it overturned? I really don’t understand why a scientist who acts on his findings is viewed with such suspicion."
Aaawww, bless her! Louise is sooo sweet! Never heard that science has to be "value-free" otherwise it's not worthy of the name? Why didn't you enter into the discussion of "nightlights" with the big boys? You obviously prefer the touchy-feely stuff. In that case I would stick to the Archers Boards, if I were you, and leave science alone.
The point is Hansen is an activist who has "captured" an organisation (GISS) that is supposed to be measuring the world's average temperature and has bent it to his will. Just like the ideologists in the Met Office, in fact, and at UEA/CRU - but worse! Result? -Hansen's global mean temperature consistently "out-performs" the other global databases, as the advertising boys would say.

I recommend this discussion to anyone interested in UHI climateaudit.org/2010/12/26/nasa-giss-adjusting-the-adjustments/A couple of comments that struck me as insightful: "The nightlights suffer from the same problem, a billion people live in Africa yet nightlights shows almost all of Africa as rural when there are clearly many massive cities in Africa. Same goes for North Korea. Poor countries don’t leave the lights on at night." "UHI correction should warm the past and cool the present. Wow…"

Hansen gets FOIA’d on ethics issues with NASAToday the American Tradition Institute’s Environmental Law Center filed a federal Freedom of Information Act request with NASA, seeking records detailing whether and how ‘global warming’ activist Dr. James Hansen of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) has complied with applicable federal ethics and financial disclosure laws and regulations, and NASA Rules of Behavior. This request seeks records of longtime, taxpayer-funded activist Hansen, in the knowledge that FOIA-released records and other documents show his GISS colleague, Dr. Gavin Schmidt, has edited the activist blog RealClimate on regular business hours when he is nominally working for the taxpayer. In fact, FOIA-released records indicate this third-party activism was considered part of Schmidt’s job, seeking to rehabilitate the discredited ‘hockey stick’ and otherwise promoting GISS’s activist line. The request for Hansen’s ethics-compliance records comes on the heels of his latest adventures in public advocacy, writing in the Chinese newspaper South China Morning Post to blame the United States for modern climate change and his ritually exaggerated claims of future catastrophe, as well as some by now typically nasty sneering at American democracy in a follow-up article published on his website (now taken down but surely produced, as FOIA records have already revealed that so much of his privately posted work has been produced, on taxpayer time)..... more here wattsupwiththat.com/2011/01/19/hansen-gets-foiad-on-ethics-issues-with-nasa/#more-31977

Writing in a Chinese newspaper about...... Look Marchesarosa, ever come across irony in your doings? Irony? Do you know what it is?

I read WUWT and Climate Audit for information, Louise, not to seek out the likes of you. Finding you there was quite a surprise, I must admit.
When someone pops up and suddenly posts so prolifically here it would be ill-mannered to ignore them, Louise, unless they are amongst that select band of "trolls", posting from anonymous on-line proxy servers who think it's their duty to fly the flag of AGW wherever *deniers" are found? Our hosts have seen fit to bar the return of their like so I suggest you watch your step. No-one except Mr Smith and nay, who both like a rumble, would mourn your naive apologetics for an increasingly wobbly hypothesis and its slimy exponents.

marchesarosa - I have read through many of the threads on this board and have seen that the administrators try to ensure that individuals are not harassed or stalked (apart from rsmith's stalking of helen that is) and so I decided to follow your strategy of posting information that I thought would be of interest to others without entering into any debate on those points.
Your apparant need to challenge almost every post that I make is what I believe helen was admonished for when she behaved similarly to you.
I assume moderation here is even handed and fair and so if I follow the model that the moderators have said they approve of, I expect to be able to continue to post.

If you post here, expect a response, Louise. if your views are naive, doubly so.
The difference between my posts and Helen's is that mine are almost invariably full of information and links to new research and the opinions of eminent climatologists. They are not mere needling exercises aimed at fellow boarders. You see, I actually have an interest in the climate and am not engaged in a propaganda exercise as several of your predecessors have been.

I think my "stalking" of helen is a bit over-stated. I have a good natured poke at her when she avoids embarrassing threads where she has been shown to be lacking in understanding and her beliefs have been shown to be wrong. We have a history of arguing about fishing going back over a year. I am an environmentalist who is very pissed off at the high-jacking of the movement by extreme left zealots pedalling propaganda to further their bent ideology. If you are simply a concerned individual hoping to enlighten us "deniers" I suggest you take the blinkers off and look at the evidence concerning CAGW. If you're just a left wing activist I pity you.
