With the death of John Barry yesterday I think we have lost one of our most talented movie score composers. His compositions will remain timeless and will continue to give pleasure to current and future generations. A true giant of popular music.

Thanks for that, abacus. The Out of Africa theme is one of my favs! After playing it I immediately sent off for the dvd from Amazon. When we go on our self-catering jaunts my friend Copernicus and I love to watch some good dvds in the evening. This will be one of them for our first holiday of the year to Richmond, North Yorks in May.

I have rarely read such turgid stuff and I had a particular interest as I lived near her house when I was in Kenya (a long, long time ago)

I have not read the book but the film is great romantic movie (IMHO). Great cast!
