is to give these boards a bolt in the head, and put it out of its misery, because there is no actual scientific discussion going on.
And won't be when there is no significant moderation, and certain people run amok without adult supervision.

Yey! There are five, what would call you them? A pentocrisy? Got to keep this place alive though speakertoanimals. It's livelier than any other science forum I have found if not the most scientific. My science students think that some are quite funny, WUMs in the web talk. Especially naymissus, carnyx and marchesarosa. It works though, so let's keep on keeping on.

"certain people run amok without adult supervision"
The only reason YOU are permitted to continue your unpleasant, aggressive rampage here, Speaker, is that it provides in-house entertainment and stimulation for nay missus who is a truly entertaining and informative "writer", unlike you, who know no other method of discourse than that of the playground bully. Nay runs rings around you.
Speaking of bullies, whatever happened to your twin, BikerBoy/girl, by the way? Let's just be grateful s/he disdained to join the Board!
You're merely a "reactor', Speaker. You simply make kneejerk rejoinders to other people's remarks. Nay has opened scores of entertaining and long-running threads. You have only opened one - THIS one! Speaks volumes!

Aggressive? I've really needled you haven't I?
Let's not mention factual inaccuracies, but then that isn't a failing that has ever bothered you that much, has it.
Just interesting to see who gangs p with whom, and seems you stick to the enemy of your enemy is your friend. But then I guess you need all the 'friends' you can muster for your little anti-science crusade.

Needling is indeed your modus operandi, speaker. With Helen I think it is a personality defect it seems she cannot control.

SAT
Authioritarian? Intolerant? Literalist?
'It's In The Book' .. as revealed knowledge?
You do realise, that Dawkins's whole campaign is aimed at your intellectual mode?

Take STA's 'home' MB. I am a member there but frankly it has the atmosphere of a Politburo committee meeting. You have to be very careful what subjects you bring up, you must avoid being too controversial and not engage in heated discussion because the bloke in charge does not approve of that sort of thing. You must not stray in the slightest from the topic of the original OP (even though very often it inevitably brings in other issues) and if you do, there seem to be innumerable 'trigger happy' moderators who are only too willing to warn you or move your contribution to some other sub-board. I have hardly posted there because I simply find it boring and staid and do not feel I can really express myself. I much prefer this MB, warts and all, and although some people do go too far at times, overall it is the best science MB I have found to date on the net that offers a reasonable level of intercourse for 'average' people. At least on here we are treated as adults and not subjected to the enduring scrutiny of control freaks. I doubt very much, for example, that the thread about the causes of homosexuality would have been much tolerated over there.

Expressing yourself? Who cares! It's the science and the facts that we want.
Any idiot can express themselves, doesn't mean that what they are expressing is of any interest to anyone other than themselves.

I doubt very much, for example, that the thread about the causes of homosexuality would have been much tolerated over there. How much of the discussion on that thread has actually been about the science and how much has been about needling other board members who are known to be homosexual?

I think this STAism needs a careful read;
"Any idiot can express themselves, doesn't mean that what they are expressing is of any interest to anyone other than themselves. "
But how would anyone know beforehand? And how could anyone tell after the event?
I think that this is an example of a genuinely preposterous remark.

It's not I that makes hostile remarks but if certain individuals wish to think that it's their problem. We've just had a couple of unwarranted hostile remarks on the part of those who are accusing me, so there we are. STA, look at yourself.
