"From MIT, something surprising. Like alignment of iron atoms in a magnet, microbes in seawater can align and change the albedo. It makes me wonder how much seawater can be warming by light absorption in ENSO events, which change currents. Perhaps there is a contribution, I don’t know, but it is very interesting." More here wattsupwiththat.com/2011/02/24/a-mircobe-albedo-effect-for-ocean-light-absorption/and here Scientists say ocean currents cause microbes to filter light web.mit.edu/press/2011/stocker-microbes.htmlRoman Stocker, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at MIT and lead author on a paper www.pnas.org/content/early/2011/02/17/1014576108.abstract about this work. “This implies that fluid flow, which is typically neglected in models of marine optics, may exert an important control on light propagation, influencing the rates of carbon fixation and how we estimate these rates via remote sensing.”
-------- Everyday research findings are produced which make one understand that we have so far only scratched the surface of understanding the complexity of our planet. Marvelous stuff. Long may it keep on coming! It is important to be aware that outside the tiny politically motivated IPCC warmist clique real science is still being practised and useful increments to knowledge are still progressing. This sort of work makes the IPCC's palaeo treering temperature proxy work look sad.

Climate change is real. Global warming irrefutable. How many markers do you require before denial is obvious to you?
Now can we have a grown-up discussion on what is causing global warming.
1) sunspots? Current thinking say their absence right now is masking the hockeystick effect. 2) Earths orbit ovality (and variations thereof) and precession of the spin causing us to get nearer and further on a 100,00 year cycle? Think Ice Ages. Think Jupiter et al. 3) God, whoever she is! 4) Or the fact that homo sapiens has flooded the market with its "self", its profligacy (you ain't seen nothing yet) and their using up 200 million years of insolation in 100 years?
If you have difficulty ticking all of the above go back to the top and re-read. If you have difficulty apportioning relative importance on each - you are a denier.
j'accuse - or your children will - for sure.
