Before coal was invented, they said the same thing about wood. What we need is more invention. Coal displaces wood; Oil displaces coal; gas replaces oil. Nuclear power ( of various flavours) is predicated to replace gas, and so on. We need to keep up this process of invention, or we will decline into an animal existence
Meanwhile, we still have uncountable numbers of trees, coal seams, oil deposits, gas deposits, radioactive ores & co. etc.
