Kirklees Council Civic Centre turbine still brokenby Barry Gibson, Huddersfield Daily Examiner Feb 9 2011 A KIRKLEES Council wind turbine is still out of action – 11 MONTHS after it broke down. One of the two turbines on top of Civic Centre 3 has not worked since last March. This week the 27ft windmill was still slumped over on the roof of the town centre building. The Examiner contacted the council press office at 10.59am yesterday to ask for a comment. None was forthcoming. Kirklees installed the six-kilowatt turbines in 2006 to raise awareness of renewable energy.[oh, not to produce actual energy, then?] The windmills cost £101,000 to buy and install. In 2008 the turbines brought £2,078 into Kirklees coffers, but cost £6,431 to maintain and repair. www.examiner.co.uk/news/local-west-yorkshire-news/2011/02/09/kirklees-council-civic-centre-turbine-still-broken-86081-28138298/

A local government website cited this installation as a case study in an article dated 24.1.2011 and claimed under ‘Achievements’
“The wind turbines have performed well given their urban location and have required minimal maintenance”.
Triumph of hope over experience.

Triumph of hope over experience. Now this reminds me of the triumphs of tractor production in the USSR

I have a funny feeling it was my ex wife that sold them that turbine. Marvellous.

Nah, she's a rep/pr thingy for a company that sells "Proven" turbines. I recognise it as it's a back to front ugly thing...the blades are behind the nacelle. It would have been new whereas my ex wife was "pre-owned".

What a broad-minded tolerant husband you are, Mr Smith! I'm sure STA, our uxorious gay pal, would have pilloried HER wife for such a departure from her husband's fondest values and beliefs.
