I'm currently in Canada, where the mains supply is 120v 60hz. Other than being less lethal than 240 volts (which isn't really lethal if you have RCDs), are there other advantages to using 120v over 240v?
I can think of a few disadvantages, but no other advantages spring to mind. P

Lots of disadvantages principled, but no advatages I can see.
The 110v system could be historic and to do with the power generation. As for the safety, it is the amps by and large that kill - I was given one hell of a belt by a big arc welder running at 80v.
