Idling as one does, it suddenly came to my notice that this silliness is in operation (most scientific, I feel sure) Also noticeable is that some of our 'scientists' take all this K stuff quite seriously and have been happily exalting and admonishing like schoolchildren in a sweetie factory.
Now I consider the highest K factors awardedfall into three categories 1. The dullest and 'nicest' people on a board (high positive K) 2. The dullest people on a board (hovering around 0 K - could do with chilling out!) 3. The most effective people on a board (High negative K)
So the dullest and nicest to date are - Helen and Lazarus The dullest people - well nearly everyone else (including me) The most effective rSmith and Marchesa-Rosa
Personally I could almost have predicted that !
Congratulations to RSand MR for outstanding contributions and effectively controlling the board!

The most effective people on a board (High negative K) Scientifically speaking, I wouldn't have said that the 'opposite' of dullest/nicest (+ve Karma) was effective (-ve Karma). I'd actually have said that the opposite of 'nicest' would be something like 'most unpleasant' or similar. But then I believe rsmith7, marchesarosa and naymissus are all old friends from another board and so have an understanding.

Karma is just a pat on the back from ones fellow boarders.
The old hands don't use it except in a positive direction in my experience.
Maybe the newbies to the Proboards think it is an extension of the BBC's catpee button. It's not! But if it makes you people FEEL better by all means smite away!

"Why else is the option enabled?"
To provide "release" for those who don't have the intellect to respond any other way and who are incapable of ignoring stuff?
Gown ups don't "smite".

OK agreed. naymissus wins the 'Karma Chameleon' award for 2010. "You come and go, you come and go". If you're a girl. If you're a boy.

Could I suggest that the field strength of karma is defined, not by its absolute value at any time but its rate of change, dK/dt?
Hence my own particular absolute K value which is way above anyone else's is NOT a true representation of the strength of feeling that I generate ammongst fellow users.
But recently the dK/dt of my absloute K value is very high indeed (negative going), therefore it just so happens that I am STILL the raiser of greatest emotion amongst our august audience of scientists, pretend scientists, don't-give-a-bugger scientists and the hoi-polloi (which category do YOU belong to?)
This is the new standard that WILL be adopted
