Is it any wonder that "Vince Cable reveals a strategy to cut science funding" www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-11225197 when the science/environment headline on the BBC news page is "Scientists carry out the first rigorous analysis of dance moves that make men attractive to women" www.bbc.co.uk/news/science_and_environment/Isn't this latter just fodder to support the popularist view that science is an activity carried out to investigate the bleedin' obvious?

"Popularist" science is often sponsored science, such as the detailed research into biscuit-dunking paid for by McVities.
Was this research paid for by a game company developing a new Wii game?
