From 1960 to 2000, the world population doubled from 3 to 6 billion. Food production kept up during this time and from the 1990's food consumption increased too for the poorest nations. Good.

Of course, even though the world is feeding itself with an ever better diet (except for western junk food eaters!) it cannot be denied that the ever-increasing global population is inevitably encroaching upon the habitat of the other life-forms of the planet. That can only be reversed by a reduction in world population.

Let's have quality rather than quantity in the human life-form and leave space for the wild animals we all love (and even those we don't)!

With infant mortality (under 5s) plummeting from 11.9 million in 1990 down to 7.7 million in 2010 a population growth limitation initiative is desperately needed.
