If we're allowed to gently poke fun at folk here, how about a trio of STA, Naymissus and Abacus?

Abacus - where in the trio did you place yourself? Well looked liked you placed me as the working class one (not that I am saying anything negative about the working class). But I would place myself as the 'voice of experience' in that particular trio.

Most of all though, I love to discuss and to learn If only you did. I was surprised to see the same threads on this board to the ones I discussed with you over on JSG with you writing the same rubbish and being corrected in exactly the same way and continuing to spout the same rubbish later on. I cant work out whether you are for real or not - you genuinely seem to have a passion for science and yet you seem to have no interest in listening and taking on board what other people say (even people who have clearly studied the subjects under discussion). Some of this stuff is hard, there is no shame in not understanding it or getting it wrong. There is, however, shame in labeling those who are trying to help bigots and idiots which is what you seem to have plenty of previous in doing. If you genuinely wanted to learn you would be thankful you share a board with someone like speakertoanimals who seems willing to spend time and energy explaining things which is something you will struggle to find anywhere else for free.

I want to learn alright but STA does not explain things. What she does is to confuse non-experts with jargon instead of making an effort to make things plainer using analogies and less technical terms. Then, when you tell her you do not 'get it' she accuses you of being an idiot! Some teacher.

You just get all precious when I say where and what you have misunderstood, and then prefer to say I'm insulting you.
When you ignore my corrections, when you make no attempt to understand what I have said, or even admit that you might have been wrong, then you tend to get called an idiot, and well-deserved when you are idiotic.................

What part of "teaching" resides in repeatedly calling people idiots because they challenge your values and your own understanding?
Does STA actually grasp the difference between "uncertainty" within KNOWN bounds and downright bloody "ignorance" of the world?

Challenges my understanding? You're sorely mistaken there M. Most of it is kiddy stuff, to be frank. It's just the same ole common misconceptions and misunderstandings repeated over and over again, followed by asking the same questions and making the same claims over and over, and totally ignoring earlier posts where their mistakes were already pointed out.
If someone does that, what do you call it other than idiotic behaviour? And someone who behaves like an idiot gets called it, seems the most appropriate choice of word, to be frank.
