" you presumptious twit","typical squirming bullshit.", "fool". As mrsonde cannot conduct this discussion without making snide remarks and direct insults, I will leave others to debate his idea. I've told you before Ms.Sensitive, half a dozen times: if you don't like it, don't start it. I'm a feminist, but if you slap me, I'll slap you back. Gently, perhaps, given your delicacy: but this is a messageboard - I don't care what you look like. Fatty.

I didn't start it. I have made no direct insults to you in this discussion.

Aaaah...it's only the direct insults you object to, is it? Well, sorry, I'm a bloke. I suggest, therefore, that if you don't like being called a fool or a twit, and you really can;t help yourself being either, you avoid your habitual indirect insults too - save them for your WI meetings, when you're bitching about Ms.Haversham's rhubarb jam.

I didn't make any indirect insults either.

Perhaps you thought you weren't. Perhaps you were just being your normal charming self. Like me - to my mind the insults you object to were simple statements of fact. As Horace Vandergelder says to his prospective son-in-law, all the facts about you are insults.

You get rich by taking money from others, and you get poor by giving it to others. So the reason some people are rich and some are poor is because you can't have one without the other. Eventually the poor either starve or revolt, and the rich have to spend their money because there's no other point in having it. Economics is the science of ignoring these obvious facts.

"Perhaps you thought you weren't. " Show me any instances in this discussion where you believe I have insulted you. Just don't do it. Be polite and reasonable, and you'll be responded to in the same manner. End of. And stop your bleeding whingeing, or else find somewhere else where your nitpicking bitching will be tolerated and responded to with the grovelling yes ma'ams you're presumably used to. I've advised you before: adjust your attitude. Because frankly, I don't care - I'm happy enough dealing with jumped-up arrogant insulting fools like you. I've met them everywhere I've been - academia is full of them, and so are building sites, and you thoroughly infest messgaeboards. You insult me, I'll give you worse without even feeling an itch. Understand? On the other hand, be reasonable and polite and respectful, and that's what you'll always get in return from me. Behave as though you were in a fairly formal dinner party, but in the relaxed postprandial brandy part - you don't know me, you've just figured out if you've got any brains at all that I'm at least as intelligent as you and certainly a lot more learned, and am worthy of being listened to - just in case you might learn something. Okay? Are we agreed on that? Then pax. You can start afresh when you choose. Otherwise stop your bloody whingeing and man up.

You get rich by taking money from others, and you get poor by giving it to others. This is the presumably very successful thief who flies as a hobby. Previously, he may have led us to believe he was an entrepreneur, who'd used his skills to work out a way to make things people wanted and did so in a way whereby he could sell his products for more then he made them for: ie he traded. He used his skills to generate a living for himself, and did so sufficiently well to spread his success widely enough to employ people to help him to do so, thereby giving emplyment and prosperity to numerous others. But no - actually, it turns out he was just a con artist, stealing from people. What an amazing system that allows such tricksters to make fools of us all. And you were just lucky enough to be morally corrupt enough to be in the rich part. Have you told your employees and customers this insight? I don't think you're a scientist at all, Alan. You're a very strange one, if you are. You've certainly never learned to think much.

And for those in the real world who understand the differnce between Somalia and Grenada, migration across the med is a fraction of migration into Europe. Thta's because it's hard, and dangerous, and expensive.

The means, whether trade, trickery or simple extortion, is irrelevant. If you weren't born with more money than your poor neighbour, you must be more successful at acquiring money than he is. And you can only acquire it from other people, because it doesn't grow on trees. The ultimate con is called politics.

It wasn't a question, It was a command. As another of these repeat offender hypocritical whiners about "being insulted", and there's no doubt that you derive from the same privileged cossetted background, where you're used to wielding unquestioned authority to small children who'll at the end of the day you'll punish if they question the nonsense you spout, you should by now appreciate the difference: I'll respond to one, but not the other.
